General Description

.  Create programs for robotic welding equipment for any new job or jobs in which specifications have changed substantially and block or trace welds to ensure alignment and dimensions  of welds meet  specifications of work order.

Job Specific

.  Ensure correct fixtures, parts and finished goods containers are available as specified in work order by checking both part number and fixture number prior to set up..

.  Set up fixtures and adjust as necessary to produce welded components.

.  Create new program and backup program for part based on print and/or specification.

.  Load parts in fixtures and operate welding equipment for first part as specified in work order.

.  Perform first piece inspection using specified instrumentation, submit first piece to quality department personnel if all dimensions and weld placement meets specifications, complete paperwork as required.

.  Perform required part clean up including grinding or other finishing operations as specified on work order.

.  Train new employees or review welding production and inspection steps with robotic operators as necessary depending upon experience of available personnel and complexity of operation.

.  May require assistance of set up/operator for complex or diversified parts.

.  Troubleshoot robotic welding equipment when problems arise or equipment malfunctions including adjustment of fixtures and perform other basic maintenance on welding equipment as required.

.  Ensure compliance by operators and other set up personnel with all safety and environment requirements.

 . Report labor hours by entering all applicable information into shop floor terminal.

.  Fill in for welding foreman or supervisor as required or directed.

Desired Work/Skills experience

.  One to two years of programming and setup experience in manufacturing.

.  Thorough knowledge of welding fundamentals including MIG and spot welding.

.  Must be able to understand moderately complex blueprints, weld symbols and /or specifications.

.  Must have mechanical aptitude and ability and be able to troubleshoot problems with robotic welding equipment.
.  Previous QC and inspection experience using basic inspection tools at a level to resolve QC problems when a part does not meet specifications.

Previous experience with ISO requirements helpful.

.  Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with co-workers and supervisors including discussions about work instructions, safety, quality and equipment operations.

Desired Education

.  High school diploma or equivalent or 1-2 years  experience welding and setting up a robotic welder and 1-2 years experience programming robotic welders.  Must pass SCC pre-employment weld test.

.  Technical education classes preferred.

Job Requirements

.  Must have and wear protective gear designated for the department and job.

.  Must be able to stand for all or most of a regular work shift as well as reach, bend and stoop.

.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on  a regular basis.

.  Must have visual acuity.
